Stonington program to look back at Harbor View restaurant
Stonington - For more than two decades the Harbor View in Stonington Borough was one of the region's landmark restaurants.
Today, patrons still speak fondly of the Water Street eatery started by Ainslie Turner and her husband, Jerry, in 1968.
On Sunday at 5 p.m., Ainslee will give a talk called "Tales from the Harbor View" as part of the LaGrua Center's "Burrowing into the Borough Series. The talk is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and parking is in the main lot at Stonington Commons.
By 1975, the Turners had acquired two adjacent buildings and transformed them into the Harbor View Bar, which became famous for its bistro menu, blackboard specials and loyal customers. They added Skipper's Dock Restaurant next door in 1986 before selling both restaurants in the 1990s. Ainslie is now back at Skipper's Dock.
