Conservation Commission to host Earth Day celebration

Old Lyme — The Conservation Commission will host an Earth Day celebration from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lymes' Senior Center, at 26 Town Woods Road.

The celebration will be dedicated to past local environmentalists and conservationists Roger Tory Peterson, Belton Copp, Dana Bartholomew, Connie Pike, Rook McCulloch, Taffy Holland, Carl Kotzan and more.

The celebration, to be held rain or shine, will include a 3:30 p.m. trail walk to a Native American cave dwelling. Limited to 26 people, the walk is easy, with slightly more challenging footing at the cave site. The walk will take just over an hour. Old Lyme Land Trust, Old Lyme Open Space Commission, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and the Lyme-Old Lyme High School Environment Club will be among those participating Sunday.
