Former Montville mayor to be honored
Montville — There will be a Night of Celebration for former Mayor Joseph “Pinky” Jaskiewicz on Friday, June 8, at the town’s Polish Club.
Tickets are $30 each and include appetizers and dinner. The event will start with appetizers at 6 p.m. followed by dinner an hour later. Those interested should contact Town Councilor Billy Caron at (860) 608-0969. Jaskiewicz was the town’s mayor from 2003 until last November, when he chose not to seek re-election. He first became involved in town politics as a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission.
He was also a former Town Council chairman before being elected mayor. A retired supervisor from Electric Boat, he has lived in the town for about 40 years after growing up in Norwich.
