    Man hurt in Ledyard motorcycle crash

    Ledyard — A Vernon man was injured early this evening after a motorcycle accident on Route 214, also known as Stoddards Wharf Road, at the intersection with Avery Hill Road.

    Police Lt. Mike Finkelstein said police responded to a 911 call about 6:30 p.m. reporting a motorcycle crash and found David M. Oterson, 53, and his 1998 Harley Davidson on the road.

    The Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad took Oterson to the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment of multiple injuries. Oterson’s condition was not immediately available.

    American Ambulance paramedics along with firefighters from the Ledyard and Gales Ferry departments also responded.

    The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Fred Whitlock of the Ledyard Police Department at 860-464-6400.
