Bunny Wear and More in Old Saybrook

SWAG owner Michael Hoinsky displays some of the items from the 2,000-piece Playboy collection available to shoppers in Old Saybrook this weekend.

SWAG has joined the numerous destination shops on Old Saybrook’s Main Street by offering an entertaining and eclectic mix of clothes, home goods, and gifts. This weekend, SWAG owner Michael Hoinsky is upping the ante by offering a unique shopping opportunity: a 2,000-piece collection purchased for Playboy magazine photo shoots.

“Some are brand new, some were worn once, maybe for an hour. Some you can wear to work, others, not so much,” Hoinsky said. “Some are nice, some are naughty. Dresses, jeans, jackets, sports jerseys, corsets, bras, bathing suits, pajamas, robes, lace tops and more. Plus all the accessories.”

Dubbed “The 50 shades of gray goods sale,” this weekend’s event became possible when the corporate offices of Playboy decided to consolidate operations in Los Angeles, closing down its Chicago location where these items were stored. Hoinsky said that half of the items that are in this weekend’s Private Sale were used in the photo shoots, half weren’t, but all will be for sale to the public for the first time.

Due to widespread publicity in state media, Old Saybrook is bracing for a busy weekend. The sale is scheduled Saturday, July 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in a tent behind SWAG at 117 Main Street.
