Groton – Autism Speaks of Southeastern Connecticut, an advocacy group, will present a series of educational programs beginning Sept. 19 at the library. The free programs will take place at 7 p.m.

The Sept. 19 program will focus on the signs of autism, current research in the area of autism diagnosis, getting a diagnosis in Southeastern Connecticut and next steps after a diagnosis. The speaker will be John Molteni, director of the Institute for Autism and Behavioral Studies at Saint Joseph College and director of the Autism Center at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain.

Subsequent programs will be: Oct. 17, natural treatments, presented by Todd Stelick, holistic health provider; Dec. 19, apps, presented by Nicole Feeney; Jan. 16, toileting issues presented by Molteni; March 20, special education laws, presented by Attorney Lawrence Berliner; April 17, transitioning, presented by Lighthouse Voc Ed; May 15, behavioral interventions; June 19, “compromised generation,” with author Beth Lambert.
