SCCOG receives $400,000 for GPS projects

The Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments has received more than $400,000 for projects related to “geospatial information systems” (GIS).
Announced Friday by the office of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, the $436,400 to SCCOG is part of more than $8.6 million distributed to regional planning and economic development entities across the state under the Regional Performance Incentive Program.
Standardizing mapping systems, the release says, “would allow state, regional and municipal users to better coordinate planning and disaster response.”
In 2008, the council of governments received $309,480 from the state for the same program.
