NPU to conduct survey of gas line

Norwich -- Norwich Public Utilities will conduct its annual survey of a portion of the natural gas pipeline in the coming weeks.

NPU has contracted with Robert Dunn of Premier Utility Services to conduct the survey in the central downtown and the West Side areas during daytime business hours, Monday through Friday. The survey is expected to be completed by the end of September.

“Annual gas line surveying is an integral part of our natural gas safety plan,” said Chris LaRose, operations division manager. “We survey a portion of the gas distribution system each year. This allows us to find leaks and schedule necessary maintenance before any problems occur.”

Dunn will be walking within the targeted areas, surveying from the gas main in the street up to the gas meters on customers’ property. If the gas meter is located inside the residence, he will be requesting access into the home. Dunn will have identification showing he is a contractor for Norwich Public Utilities.

Anyone with concerns or questions about this project or Dunn’s presence can contact Norwich Public Utilities at (860) 887-2555, or send an email to communitymatters@npumail.com.
