Fund set up to help Waterford family displaced by fire

Waterford — The American Red Cross and others have come to the aid of a local family that was displaced by a fire Friday afternoon.

The home at 520 Boston Post Road was occupied by Sean and Jen Adams and their three children, according to Heidi Mlyniec, a family friend. Two of the family’s dogs were killed in the fire.

The Red Cross is providing emergency food, clothing and baby needs. Mlyniec said the family lost everything and was scattered Saturday at the homes of various friends.

She added that The Adams Family Benefit fund has been set up at all Liberty Bank branches and donations are being accepted “to help the family restart their lives.”

“They literally have nothing,” Mlyniec said.

The fire was reported after 4 p.m. in the three-bedroom ranch. A cause was unavailable as of Saturday afternoon.

The Red Cross also provided comfort kits with personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items. Children’s kits included a stuffed toy. Mlyniec said Sean and Jen Adams shared the home with a teenage girl, middle school girl and infant boy. The Red Cross donations were provided by donations and the work of volunteers.
