'Know Your Town' series scheduled in Ledyard
Ledyard — The town is hosting a seven-week "Know Your Town" program designed to provide residents and businesses of Ledyard insight into the history and governmental process of the town and introduce the employees and volunteers who make it work.
Department personnel will provide information at their sessions. Each will begin at 7 p.m. beginning Sept. 20 and be limited to two hours. Registration for the sessions will be done through Bill Library and are limited to 25 people.
The following is the schedule for "Know Your Town:"
Sept. 20: Mayor, Town Council, Kit Foster and the history of Ledyard at the Nathan Lester House
Sept. 27: Town Clerk Michael Curley, Assessor Paul Hopkins and Tax Collector Joan Carroll in the Town Clerk's office
Oct. 4: Emergency Services – police, fire chiefs and the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad — at the Emergency Services BuildingOct. 11: Library Resources at Bill Library with Mary Hubbard and John Phetteplace of the Library Commission – a demo of online resources, downloadable books, discussion of library programs and visit to the Janice Bell Local History Room
Oct. 18: Land Use Departments including Planning and Zoning with Mike Cherry, Inland, Wetland and Water Courses Commission, Conservation with Dave Schroeder, and Building Official Randy Dalton
Oct. 25: Commission on Senior and Ledyard VNA – Senior Center with Lauren Rapp of the Senior Commission and Karen Goetchius of the Nursing Board at the Senior CenterNov. 1: Board of Education and Parks and Recreation at the building on Blonder Blvd.
