Salem — The town's parent-teacher organization is organizing a golf tournament on Oct. 1 to raise money for a new playground behind the Salem School.

The organization is seeking four-person teams to participate in a scramble tournament at Great Neck Country Club in Waterford. It is $125 per golfer, and some proceeds will go toward the Salem School Memorial Fund. Organizers said the new playground will be built in memory of all those lost from the town's school community.

The golf event includes a shotgun start, dinner, a raffle and awards for closest to the pin and longest drive. The golf will start at 12:30 p.m. For more information or to download a registration form, visit www.salemptogolf.com.
