Tonight's Groton school board meeting canceled

Groton - The Groton Board of Education canceled Thursday’s special meeting where members were expected to review and possibly approve a contract with a new interim superintendent.

The school board agreed on Monday to appoint former Bridgeport School Superintendent John Ramos to the position, contingent on review of his contract.

Discussion of the contract has been added to the agenda of a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the school administration building.

If appointed, Ramos would fill a vacancy left by interim superintendent Randall Collins who was expected to leave by the end of September. Superintendent Paul Kadri remains on paid leave and the board is considering firing him based on allegations of mistreatment of school district employees.
