CL&P: Less than 1 percent still go without power

Connecticut Light & Power is reporting this morning that 7,445 or less than 1 percent of its customers are still in the dark.

Less than two dozens customers in our region are without electricity.

CL&P's numbers do not include the more than 200 homes in Old Lyme that cannot have power restored until they are inspected by a licensed electrician.

Hurricane Sandy brought flooding and winds that submerged furnaces, dampened electrical panels and pulled out wires, which could pose safety risks if power is restored to those homes.

CL&P said in a statement Monday said that power had been restored to more than 800,000 customers impacted in the last week by Hurricane Sandy.
