Two arrested in Norwich heroin bust

Norwich —Police arrested two men and seized 800 bags of heroin packaged for street sales and more than $1100 in cash during a motor vehicle stop late Saturday night.

Police said they were investigating a suspicious motor vehicle at 11:30 p.m. when its occupants tried to provide officers with false names. The officers recognized the driver, Colin Frechette, 23, of Moosup, and checked his license which revealed he was wanted on a warrant for violation of probation.

His passenger, George Kazakidis, 27, of Gilman, who police say gave them false identification, was also wanted on a warrant for second-degree failure to appear in court.

A search of the car found that Frechette was in possession of the heroin with a value $8,000, two cellular phones and the cash. Kazakidis, was also in possession of a small amount of heroin.

Frechette, was charged with possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation. He was released on a $150,000 bond and is slated to appear in Norwich Superior Court Jan. 8.
