Sunday workouts to benefit cancer patients

Groton - Planet Fitness locations across the state on Sunday will hold the inaugural Workout Against Cancer event to raise money to support Connecticut cancer patients.

Locally, money will be raised for 10-year-old Marik Tucker of Groton in his fight against Osteosarcoma of the right tibia. Tucker underwent 12 weeks of chemotherapy and amputation of his right leg. He still has 28 weeks of chemotherapy left, but faces each day with courage, laughter, and a positive outlook.

All Planet Fitness members and guests are encouraged to go to any of the participating Planet Fitness locations and run, walk, climb, bike, lift or workout in any way they choose to help raise money for the Connecticut Sports Foundation. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 21 locations including Groton and Waterford. Non-members will be given a complimentary gym pass if they want to participate.

Event proceeds benefit the Connecticut Sports Foundation and supports of Connecticut Cancer patients and their families.
