Groton school task force appoints leader
Groton — A new task force created to plan for future school construction on Tuesday appointed Jon Heller as chairman.
Heller, a Groton resident and father of two, is retired from the Coast Guard and works as an instructor at Coast Guard Academy’s Leadership Development Center. He is also an adjunct professor of accounting at University of Connecticut’s Avery Point campus and coaches basketball and Mystic Little League baseball.
The 19-member group plans to meet at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at the Town Hall Annex.
“No matter what we choose to do, I hope we can generate some consensus as a community,” Heller said of the task force.
