Grasso Tech collects 1,400 pounds of food for food center

Groton — With a collection of food weighing in at about 1,400 pounds, members of Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Technical High School’s Interact Club secured a win and bragging rights in a food collection competition against three other eastern Connecticut technical high schools.

The food was delivered by bus Friday morning to the Town of Groton Human Services food locker and the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center in New London. Interact Club advisor Patrice Granatosky said the Class of 2013 won an interclass competition and will have a wall mural painted in their honor at the school.
