Norwich — East Great Plain firefighters extinguished a bedroom fire in a home at 17 Thomas Ave, tonight.
The fire, at the home of Chuck and Amy Newman and their 12-year-old granddaughter, extensively damaged the girl’s second-floor bedroom and caused water damage to the first floor.
There were no injuries as the family and their dog escaped the 7:40 p.m. fire.
Newman, who is a member of the East Great Plains fire police, said that when the smoke detector went off, he investigated, found the fire could not be put out with an extinguisher and called 911. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
