Three men rob North Stonington hotel

North Stonington — Three masked men robbed about $100 in petty cash from the Cedar Park Inn & Whirlpool Suites at routes 2 and 184 early Saturday morning after they were unable to open a safe, according to state police.

The three men, who were wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks, entered the front office and confronted a clerk at 1:41 a.m. One appeared to be holding a pistol, according to a police report, and ordered the clerk into a back room where the safe was located.

After an unsuccessful attempt to open the safe, the trio left with only the money stolen out of petty cash. No description of the men or their vehicle was available and a police dog was unsuccessful in tracking them. The incident is under investigation.
