Norwich – With eight weather-related school cancellations this year, Norwich Free Academy Head of School David Klein said he has been forced to move graduation day to a week later than planned to meet state requirements for at least 180 days of school.

The NFA board of trustees reviewed the adjusted calendar Tuesday and also approved next year’s school calendar that could give administrators a little more flexibility in working in weather days at the end of the year.

This year, school will end on Wednesday, June 19, with graduation to be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 21, each a week later than originally planned.

Next year, Klein is planning the last day of school to be Monday, June 9, 2014, the 181st school day, with graduation on Friday, June 13, 2014.
