New London -- The green ‘emergency’ elevator and stairwell in the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital parking garage will be closed from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 6, as part of the hospital’s ongoing construction.

In addition, the covered walkway leading from the garage to the Emergency Department entrance will also be closed. The main entrance to the Emergency Department will remain open. It will be accessible for foot traffic and vehicle drop offs. Non-emergency patients, staff, physicians and visitors are encouraged to use the hospital’s main entrance during this time.  The work is being done as part of the construction of the new Joint Replacement Center.
