Imagine being surrounded by hundreds, no, thousands of books packed in scores, no, hundreds of cardboard boxes -- and you have eight days to unpack them and display them for sale. That's the goal of the Friends of Scranton Library as the organization prepares for its Annual Used Book Sale.

Is it any wonder that Joyce Rourke from Friends has sent out an email saying help is needed?

This year the Used Book Sale will be June 28,29, and 30 -- not the end of July -- at the former Academy School. Help is needed and Rourke has provided a schedule:

[naviga:li]Tuesday, June 18: Strong men and women, boys and girls to move book boxes from the storage pod into the school. The start time will be 1 p.m.[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Wednesday and Thursday: June 19 & 20: Set up books in rooms. All day. Come at your convenience.[/naviga:li]

The Used Book Sale Days: Needed -- cashiers, room monitors, hall monitors.

Again, the sale itself -- the best bargain in book-buying you'll find all year -- is Friday, Saturday, Sunday: June 28, 29, 30.

The shifts: Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon; noon-2:30 p.m.; 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m.-noon; noon-2 p.m.
