NFA student wins congressional art contest
Norwich – U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney last week visited with Donovan Kelleher of Norwich, a senior at Norwich Free Academy, who won this year’s Congressional Arts Competition in the Second Congressional District.
Kelleher’s winning portrait, “Father,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, and the artist will be awarded roundtrip airfare to Washington, D.C., to attend the opening of the national exhibit, which features winners from each congressional district.
“In a very strong field of 49 entries, Donovan’s portrait is stunning,” Courtney said. “I’m very pleased this talented young man’s artwork will represent eastern Connecticut in the United States Capitol for the next year, and that visitors from across the country will be able to see it when they visit Washington, D.C.”
