East Lyme Memorial Day parade to honor women veterans

East Lyme — The East Lyme Veterans Council will sponsor the annual Candle Light Vigil at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 26, on the Town Green. The program will feature proclamations, poems read by local scouts, The Honor Call and introductions of the Grand Marshals for Monday’s Memorial Day parade.

The Memorial Day parade, also sponsored by the Veterans Council, will begin Monday, May 27 at 2 p.m. The parade’s theme is “Honoring Our Women Veterans.” The Grand Marshals are Lt. Nancy Elliott; Chief Master Sergeant Carolyn A. Rice; SSG Janet York Littlefield, a World War II veteran; Captain Mary Levasseur, a World War II and Korean veteran; and Navy EM2 veteran Joyce Harris.
