Wisconsin Church Group Comes to Help

The Bay City Baptist Church Mission Trip arrives at Connie Goodwin's home ready to go to work.

By school bus they traveled for two days from Green Bay, Wisconsin to Old Saybrook. They came - all 31 of them - because they wanted to help a disadvantaged Storm Sandy victim with repairs not covered by insurance.

The bus bearing the Bay City Baptist Church youth group and six adult chaperones arrived last Friday at Connie Goodwin's home to begin their work.

To pay for the materials they needed - wood for a new fence, paint for the deck, and other materials - Town Social Services Coordinator Sue Consoli worked with the United Way of Middlesex County. The United Way has a $92,000 grant that Social Services Coordinators in the Towns of Old Saybrook, Westbrook and Clinton can tap to pay for Storm-Sandy related repairs to client's homes.
