Stonington — A Gales Ferry couple was taken to Westerly Hospital with non life threatening injuries late this afternoon when their motorcycle struck a station wagon that had pulled out into their path on Route 1 in Pawcatuck.

According to police, Alan Bardfield, 49, of 9 Kennedy Dr., was driving a motorcycle west on Route 1 with his wife Elizabeth, 45, on the back at 5:09 p.m. That's when a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria wagon driven by Christopher Johnson, 25, of 98 West Broad St., Apt.1, pulled out from the driveway that leads to the rear of the Elm Tree, which is located at 98 West Broad St.

The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the station wagon. The hospital would not release their conditions tonight.
