Connecitcut Light & Power is reporting that it has made significant gains in restoring power to several towns in the area.

A mid-morning rainstorm caused a tree to fall on wires on Shewville Road in Ledyard, resulting in the power outage.

Power to 673 customers in Stonington has been restored. CL&P is reporting that only 9 customers in North Stonington are in the dark. Three customers in Ledyard and one in Groton are still without electricity.
