Man badly burned in Westerly fire
Westerly — A man was transported to the hospital with potential second- and third-degree burns on his arms and legs after a house fire this morning, Dunn's Corners Fire Department Deputy Chief Keith Kenyon said.
Kenyon said firefighters received a report around 7 a.m. of a house fire and a burn victim at 20 Charlene Drive. When they arrived, he said, the house was in flames but the residents had evacuated. Kenyon did not identify the man who was burned.
It took about 25 to 30 minutes to put out the fire, he said, although the fire department remained on the scene for a few hours afterward. The Misquamicut and Westerly fire departments also responded.
