AC breakdown at Norwich City Hall forces offices to move

Norwich – A roof air conditioning unit malfunctioned this morning at City Hall that serves the state adult probation offices on the third floor, forcing city officials to move those offices into the Room 335 meeting room and relocate meetings scheduled for that room.

City Public Works Director Barry Ellison said he has ordered the necessary part, but it could take a couple days to resolve the problem.

The Republican Town Committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. will be moved to Room 108, and the Sachem Fund Committee scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. will be held in Room 210.

Ellison said he also instructed city employees to limit power use at City Hall, because window air conditioning units are expected to be working full time this week. Ellison asked employees to limit use of coffee machines, toaster ovens and other small appliances this week.
