Heat wave continues, temps will feel like 100 degrees

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for southeastern Connecticut as temperatures will approach 100 degrees, but with the high humidity it will feel much hotter.

The advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. tonight. The weather service issues a heat advisory when the heat and humidity makes it feel like it's 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours.

Temperatures for shoreline and inland towns will reach the upper 90s, and the heat index — how it feels outside — could hit 105, the weather service said.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is also forecasting today an unhealthy air quality alert until midnight.
