A marathon homage to 'Moby Dick'

Actor Bill Steinmayer, standing before the painting “W.R. Grace” by Charles Patterson as he portrays author Herman Melville, recites the opening chapter of the classic “Moby Dick” Wednesday in the Greenmanville Church at Mystic Seaport. After Steinmayer's performance opened the annual marathon reading, volunteer readers took over with the reading moving to the whaleship Charles W. Morgan in the afternoon and continuing through the night. The reading concludes today with a celebration of Melville's birthday.
