Norwich mayoral primary candidates file campaign finance reports

Norwich — Democratic Alderwoman and mayoral primary candidate Deberey Hinchey continues to lead her opponent Alderman Charles Jaskiewicz in the campaign fundraising department, according to the latest reports filed this week.

Hinchey’s combined total for the campaign was $24,780 as of Sept. 1, with $1,550 in contributions from individuals from July 1 to Sept. 1. Donations to Hinchey’s campaign during that period ranged from $25 to $150.

Jaskiewicz reported a total of $14,230 for the entire campaign, including $4,180 from July 1 to Sept. 1, all from individual contributions ranging from $10 to $500.

Hinchey has employed a professional campaign consulting firm, the Vinci Group of Manchester, which has used several thousand dollars of her campaign funds to date for monthly fees, campaign literature, mailings and other services.

Jaskiewicz said he has about 60 lawn signs and five larger billboards on display for the primary campaign.

The primary will be Tuesday, with polls in Norwich open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
