Streets to be paved this morning in downtown Mystic

Mystic — Crews are slated to begin paving several downtown streets on the Stonington side of Mystic this morning.

Work will begin on Cottrell Street at 7 a.m. and then move to Jackson Avenue. The department also plans to shim Willow Street between Route 27 and Route 1 later in the day. On Tuesday, paving is scheduled to start at 7 a.m. on Holmes Street.

Paving is scheduled to continue Oct. 28-30 and Nov. 4 and 5. Dates are subject to change based on weather conditions and contractor availability.

Stonington Director of Public Works Joe Bragaw said the department is trying to minimize the impact on businesses by doing the work early in the morning. During paving there will be no on street parking and drivers should expect delays. Anyone with questions can call (860) 535-5055. The state is also paving Route 27 this week.
