Man charged in Ledyard cigarette burglary

Ledyard — Police arrested an Ashford man early this morning and charged him with smashing the front door of the Ledyard Farms Store in Gales Ferry and stealing cigarettes.

Mikhail Arroyo, 19, was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree larceny. He was released on a bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Nov. 25.

At approximately 4:40 a.m. police said they were notified of a commercial burglar alarm activation at the Route 12 store.

At the same time, police said they received a report from a passerby of a suspicious male outside another Route 12 business. Police determined that the suspicious male was responsible for the commercial burglary and Arroyo was arrested.
