Groton — City Police today charged a 48-year-old local man with sexually assaulting a teenage boy he had corresponded with online.

Peter Wilson, of 138 Peters Drive, faces charges of second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

City police detectives say the arrest is the culmination of an investigation that began on Jan. 27 following a complaint that Wilson had “engaged in a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old male, following an online correspondence.”

Wilson was arrested on a warrant at his place of employment. He was held on a $150,000 bond and is due to appear Tuesday in New London Superior Court.
