    Healthy Communities-Healthy Kids Pancake Fundraiser

Haddam and Killingworth resident troopers will cook breakfast for the Healthy Communities-Healthy Kids (HC-HK) Coalition Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Sunday, March 30 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Haddam Firehouse, 439 Saybrook Road, Haddam. Partnership is a key component to any successful coalition, and this is occurring with the HC-HK Coalition and the Connecticut State Police Troop F. The two Haddam resident troopers, Trooper James Connelly and Trooper Enrico Milardo; the Killingworth Resident Trooper Matthew Ward; Troop F Commanding Officer Lt. Patrick Torneo; and Resident Trooper Supervisor Sergeant Salvatore Calvo are supporting the Coalition's by participating in their Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser.

The HC-HK Coalition is completely funded by federal, state and foundation grants. In order to sustain the coalition after the $125,000 per year Drug Free Communities Support Program Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Prevention ends in September 2014, the coalition is focusing on sustainability. Through efforts of fundraising, annual appeal letters, and membership fees, the coalition is working to raise money in order to maintain prevention efforts in the community.

"This fundraiser is a perfect example of how different sectors can work together and we are very grateful for the law enforcement's collaboration," said HC-HK Prevention Coordinator Kathryn Glendon.

From drug take-back events to party patrols to alcohol merchant compliance training, HC-HK partners with the Haddam-Killingworth resident troopers and Connecticut State Police, Troop F to help create a safe and healthy environment for our youth.

The suggested donation for the March 30 breakfast is $10 for adults and $5 for children and students. The breakfast is being catered by Lino's Market of Durham and includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit, Danish, juice, and coffee.
