The Lucretia Shaw Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held a Good Citizens awards ceremony Nov. 14 to recognize local high school seniors. Pictured are Andrew Myslik from The Williams School and Nulin Phrommavah from Waterford High School.

Recipients unable to attend the ceremony included Allison Marsh from Lyme/Old Lyme High School and Gregory Newkirk from New London High School. The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest recognizes and rewards individuals who are dependable, are leaders and patriots in their homes, schools and communities. The students were selected by their teachers and peers. All four students wrote an essay on the “Fundamental Right to Free Speech.” Each is being judged to represent the region in a statewide competition. Each state sends one winner to a National competition for a chance to win a college scholarship.
