Groton town councilors, joined by PTO president Valerie Riley and custodian Wendell Gaston throw shovels-full of dirt on the roots of a pink dogwood tree during Arbor Day celebration and tree planting Friday, April 29, 2016 at Northeast Academy School. To celebrate the town's 21st consecutive designation at a Tree City USA the town planed a pink dogwood at the school with a proclamation read by town Mayor Bruce Flax, state forester Dick Raymond singing from the Northeast Academy 2nd grade chorus and poetry read by 4th graders.
