Branford CT -- Hilliard Hudson Wolfe, a junior at Branford High School, was awarded a Governor's Scholar Award May 19. 

Wolfe's essay, 'What I would do if I were president of the USA,' was selected. He was honored with 29 other Connecticut students.

The Governor's Scholars Awards recognize academically talented high school students in schools throughout the state, according to CT Association of Schools (CAS). Principals of CAS member high schools are given the opportunity to nominate one junior who ranks in the top five percent of his or her class.

Those members of the Governor's Scholars Committee who are professional educators from throughout Connecticut judge the completed applications and assign a composite score to each student's rank in class, PSAT or SAT or ACT score and the student essay.

The thirty students with the highest scores are selected as "Governor's Scholars" and will receive recognition as well as information on participation in courses and research projects at selected Connecticut colleges and universities. For more information, visit cas.casciac.org
