    Elementary school students get leadership training

    Six fifth-grade students from Lyme Consolidated School attended the 25th annual Connecticut Association of Schools Student Leadership Conference at Three Rivers Community College on Jan. 12. Leland Hine, Nick Cheesman, Griffin McGlinchey, Amelia Gage, Emma Bayor and Giovanna Parnoff were selected for their leadership skills and citizenry.

    At the conference, students participated in hands-on activities designed to promote productive thinking, decision making, communication, and creative problem solving. About 180 students from Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, Essex, Gales Ferry, Higganum, Lyme, New Britain, Niantic, North Stonington, Oakdale, Old Lyme, Pawcatuck, Uncasville, Waterford, and Newport, R.I. were at the conference.
