Ledyard — A boating safety class will be held at Ledyard High School for those interested in getting a certificate to operate a vessel.

Those who successfully complete the class will receive a diploma which will be submitted to state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, along with the license fee, to obtain their Connecticut license.

The class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 28, March 2, 7 and 9 at Ledyard High School. Students must attend all four class sessions. The fee is $10 for Ledyard residents and $15 for nonresidents.

Students should have or should obtain a Connecticut Conservation identification number before the second class meets. These identification numbers are included on fishing and hunting licenses and can be obtained without charge from DEEP.
