    On the Side: Olio

Every time I go to Olio, I wonder how its kitchen serves a superb menu along with so many “specials” that choosing becomes a chore.

After watching a matinee of “Mudbound” at The Garde, we decided to get an early dinner and go home before there was another snowstorm. Because it was just after 5:30, we got a table, enjoyed our drinks, and chose our meals. I had a little bout of norovirus and wanted risotto, but instead I chose gnocchi filled with ricotta and spinach.

The gnocchi, little rectangle pillows, are too big to drop in one’s mouth, but just the right size for two bites. They were so soft and so delicious and looked like no other gnocchi I’d seen before. Want to know why? The executive chef makes them himself in Olio’s kitchen. I’m glad the restaurant is half a mile from my house.
