    Salem nature hike

Diba Khan-Bureau, third from right, professor and program coordinator for environmental engineering and civil engineering technologies at Three Rivers Community College, and a group of her students from the environmental engineering program stop at a vernal pool to look at salamander and frog eggs while taking a hike through the Walden Preserve in Salem on Friday, April 6, 2018. The group had gathered at the preserve to lead the annual Salem Land Trust Amphibian Walk, which usually attracts a large group of people all ages. However, possibly because of the weather earlier in the day, nobody showed up for the event, so the group decided to take a hike on their own. (Dana Jensen/The Day)
