The Ledyard Beautification Committee and team captains from around town took to the streets on Sunday, April 22, to pick up trash along the roads. More than 20 groups, including residents of Ledyard and Gales Ferry, scout troops and high school students picked up nearly 200 bags worth of trash, including car parts, tires, antique bottles and nearly 700 empty nips.

The Southeastern Connecticut Regional Resource Recovery Authority donated the trash bags and reflective safety vests used by the teams during their trash pickups. The Parks and Recreation department picked up the bags from the roads, and the Public Works department collected the bulk waste items.

Team captains included: Bill Saums, Janis Vajdos, Andra Ingalls, Debbie Vessel, Heidi James, Beth Schultz, Teri McHale, Ron Brown, Josh Saiff, Luke Gauthier, Theresa Lee, Linda Davis, Carol Schneider, Carol Christiansen, Ledyard Rotary, LHS National Honor Society, Dawn Debrodt and the Pack 16 Cub Scouts, Shaun FitzGerald Farquhar, Kristen Viviano, Cory Reed, Jessica Buhle, Cindy Herrera Morrison, Tom Olsen and Brenda Foltz.
