New London pedestrian committee to host bike advocate

New London — The city’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee on Thursday will host a presentation by Susan Smith, the executive director of the nonprofit Bike Walk Connecticut.

Bike Walk Connecticut is an organization focused on changing the culture of transportation “through advocacy and education to make bicycling and walking safe, feasible, and attractive for a healthier, cleaner Connecticut.”

The Pedestrian Advisory Committee has been working with the city planner to explore more ways to make the city more pedestrian friendly. The city has approved a vendor permit and five-year license agreement with P3 Global Management to establish a series of six bike share stations across the city starting in 2019.

The public is invited to attend the meeting starting at 5 p.m. Thursday at the New London Senior Center, 120 Broad St.
