Groton library to show Jazz at Lincoln Center concerts

Groton — Starting on Friday, the Groton Public Library will broadcast monthly concerts by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

It is one of the first public libraries in the nation to use free content from the Digital Concert Network, the library said in a news release.

The Oct. 12 concert will be "Spaces," a composition by Wynton Marsalis, the managing and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. The concert combines modern dance — with direction from Damian Woetzel, retired principal dancer with the New York City Ballet — and big-band jazz.

The other two concerts will be "Presidential Suite" on Nov. 9 and "Big Band Holidays" on Dec. 7. All programming begins at 7 p.m.

Gary Buttery, adjunct associate professor of music at Connecticut College, will introduce the concerts and provide information on the music.
