Route 82 McDonald's to hold grand re-opening ceremony Wednesday

Norwich – The McDonald’s restaurant at 109 Salem Tpke. will host a grand re-opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday, joining thousands of McDonald’s nationwide with a new décor, modern equipment, including a self-order kiosk, and table service.

Local political dignitaries, including Mayor Peter Nystrom and local state legislators will be on hand to unveil the new upgraded facility. Following the ceremony, there will be a check donation made to the Thomas Mahan Elementary School across Route 82 from the restaurant, and to the Norwich Police Benevolent Association.

The upgrades are part a statewide $84 million upgrade by the company and its franchisees inside and outside of Connecticut McDonald’s restaurants. In total, McDonald’s and franchisees are investing $6 billion to modernize most U.S. McDonald’s restaurants by 2020, including most restaurants in Connecticut, the company said.
