Free prostate cancer screenings in Waterford

Waterford — Free prostate cancer screenings will be offered between 4 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center.
Screenings will be by appointment only. To make an appointment, call (860) 271-4617.
Men at risk for prostate cancer include those between the ages of 55 and 69. African-American men over the age of 40, and men over 40 with a family history of the disease are considered to be at increased risk.
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in American men. One man in every nine will be diagnosed with the disease in his lifetime.
