    An end to irrigation

Jason Alves, Park Foreman for East Lyme Parks and Recreation, monitors the progress as he winterizes the irrigation pipes at Peretz Park at Bridebrook in Niantic by using a compressor to blow the water out of the plumbing Monday, November 19, 2018. Alves says the process usually takes all day, and can usually be managed via a computer in his office, but the computer was down today requiring him to visit each of the fields in the park and operate the valves for each irrigation zone manually. Wear spots on several of the fields have been cleared for re-sodding, which will take place next week. Alves expects to be back to irrigating using the water from the park's well in May. (Sean D.
