    Preston Community Fund awards grants

    Preston – Five Preston nonprofit organizations will receive a share of $3,133 in grant funds distributed from the Preston Community Fund through the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut.

    The Preston Community Fund, established in 1991 with funds given by the former American Ref-Fuel Company of Southeastern Connecticut, which then operated the Preston regional trash incinerator, supports the arts, and cultural and social needs in Preston.

    Grants awarded are: Amos Lake Association, $450 for a water quality maintenance project; Catholic Charities, $750 for emergency basic needs; Preston City Congregational Church, $933 for the Two-Can Food Pantry; Preston Historical Society, $500 for Preston City signs restoration and Boy Scout Troop 75 for the 2019 Philmont High Adventure trip.
